Bath Lodge Castle

About Bath Lodge Castle

Bath Lodge Castle is full of character - everything you would expect from a castle in miniature, a perfect little fortress complete with towers, battlements and portcullis. Bath Lodge Castle offers a uniquely romantic, yet informal, 'castle experience'.

Outside, a bubbling stream cascades through the garden, clandestinely merging into the ancient deer forest where kings and barons once hunted - all very romantic!" Bath Lodge Castle is an architectural gem and is the perfect base to explore the rural wonder of Bath and Somerset.

A picturesque former lodge, Grade II Listed, dating from the beginning of the 19th century and commissioned as a western gatehouse leading to Farleigh House.

Joseph Houlton Junior lived at the home farm, an old gabled house, which he turned into a gentleman's residence known as Farleigh House. He also created a 'grandly timbered' deer park of 120 acres. John Houlton and his wife, Mary Anne Ellis, gothic revivalists succeeded to the estate who embellished Farleigh House and constructed the Lodge.

Situated only seven miles from Bath, ideally situated for the finest touring location for the Bath area to visit the most beautiful and interesting parts of the West Country. Stonehenge, Wookey Caves the National Trust and Stourhead Gardens are just a few of the Somerset attractions.
