Hogmany

Hogmanay open house party

Much to remember and reminisce as the New Year beckons. Celebrate new beginnings, opportunities, a fresh start, and do it in a fine Scottish castle on the very edge of the sea. The house is decorated with four tall Christmas trees covered in seasonal tartan bows, presents, holly and mistletoe galore. It is a very traditional time.

Long walks on the beach, sometimes with a winter’s gale bringing a spectacular sea over the ramparts. Occasionally sunny and warm with clear nights and perhaps the Northern Lights for a truly memorable visit. We always play golf, walk with the ranger, shoot the duck, fly a few clays and pull a few triggers in the rifle range. There’s always laughter and fun and never an hour or two passes without a nip of sloe gin. Lisa is master of Cluedo for an evening - many a time the lead piping is found in the Billiard Room.

We will have a Grand Hogmanay Ball in the Opera House in Black Tie and Highland Dress. We always celebrate in style. An Imperial of claret at dinner, drams galore. Christopher on the pipes, the Highland lassies doing their flings, Addie on the squeeze box, Gordon on the fiddle. Then it's the Bells at Midnight and another year. You will all know the words of ‘A Guid New Year to An and All’ and we will certainly make sure you know all the verses of ‘Auld Lang Syne’. A first footing, a tall dark stranger, a piece of coal. A Very Happy New Year.

Above all Hogmanay is a time for family and friends. To be with the ones you know and to meet others of kindred spirit and fun. So come and join us - but book very early to avoid disappointment.
