Cherub room

Tower bedrooms, 2nd floor

Cherub room

Named after a rather dubious oil painting of a Cherub hanging above the fire, this room is directly above and similar to the Duke's room. There are glorious views of the bay, stables and Opera House. The bed is a McEwan, half tester bed, in Maple with matching vanity unit and washstand which was commissioned especially for this room in 1852. Features a large bathroom with separate shower and toilet in turret.

Double bed: 142 cm x 193 cm (5’ x 6’2).

Blue room

A large double room with a bathroom (bath & separate shower). Through the oriel window is a glorious sea view. For many, this is the most enchanting room in the house, which was originally the nursery, and contains the original stove, feeding chair and the cot (made in 1852). Home to Tommy and Terry who refuse to move out.

Half tester double bed: 142 cm x 193 cm (5’ x 6’2”)

Hempriggs room

A double room with an interesting bathroom (bath & separate shower). The name comes from Hempriggs House in Caithness, purchased by the Dunbars from Aberdeenshire in 1691. The furniture in this room originally came from Hempriggs House. It takes a warm glow in the evening sunset. Looks out to the beach at Reiss and the old bleaching lawn.

Twin beds: 90 cm x 200 cm (3’ x 6’6”) or linked to form large king size bed.

Dunbar room

Double room with bathroom, including a shower over the bath. This room is opposite Hempriggs and the name comes from the Dunbars of Hempriggs. Once the Linen Store, it is a very interesting shaped room with lots of character, including the original iron bed.

Double bed: 137 cm x 193 cm (4’6” x 6’4”)
