Clarenco Heritage Statement

  • Preservation
  • Restoration
  • Operation
  • Consideration

Campaign to Protect Rural EnglandAt Clarenco, we are committed to working within an environment that respects history & culture and we understand that our collection of beautiful houses, castles, abbeys and stately homes have an important role to play in both local and national heritage.

A crucial part of our approach is the preservation of buildings and we are very aware of our responsibilities as owners of historic properties. Our ethos is to use and enhance whatever is in situ as much as possible and to acknowledge the combined significance of all composite parts of the building. Preferring always to restore rather than renew where possible gives us the opportunity to play an important part in safeguarding this country’s historical legacy.

We always take a sympathetic approach to any restoration works and as such, maintaining the character and history of the buildings is of paramount importance. We recognise the undeniable existence value of such buildings and are only too aware that once this has been dramatically altered, we will have lost something that is irreplaceable. This is why we partner with other industry professionals who share our values and goals when we work on any project and expect them to meet our high standards.

When the building is ready to be operated commercially, we seek to manage these operations in a professional and conscientious manner. We treat the buildings and their surroundings with a great amount of respect and encourage all those who visit them, stay in them and work in them to do likewise.

Finally, we continually strive at all times to be considerate in our approach, working with local communities and businesses wherever possible. We are mindful of the fact that these buildings are often inextricably linked with their surroundings and as such, we place a premium on developing meaningful relationships with all groups in the areas in which we work. We are also keen to ensure that the properties are enjoyed by the community and so endeavour to participate in local opportunities to open up the properties and their grounds on occasion to allow the community at large to benefit from our work.
